To any gardeners and brewers in our Glorious AEthelmarc:

I have had a long and protracted war with my numerous hops
plants and though there were battles won on either side, I have
finally conquered the hops. I am offering up the spoils of the
war to those who would like to grow their own hops.

I have a garbage bag full of roots. If you plant them now, they should
grow for you in the spring. Anyone who wants them is welcome to
them. I will divide them into gallon bags and send them off via
priority mail until they are gone.

There was a good gentlewoman whom I spoke to at the Pennsic
A&S display who thought she had a friend who would be interested. I had a
display on Medieval garden and I took this persons contact
information. Unfortunately, this year's Pennsic notebook is missing
(hopefully only temporarily) and I don't have that address any longer.
If she would contact me, I will reserve a bag for your friend until I
hear from you.

Anyone else, I will send bags first come, first serve until they are gone.
Send me an email off list to elford at zoominternet.net with your name
and postal address. I will send you a USPS priority mail box with
hops root. When you get the box, I ask you to please send me whatever
the postage was if you are able. If not, happy growing. Plant it as soon
as you get it. Plant the roots horizontally in a shallow trench.

A word of warning. Plant hops where it will get sun or partial shade.
Plant
it where it has a place to climb and plant it away from where you walk
regularly. Hops can be invasive so make sure you want it. Also, the stems
are very Velcro like and will grab you as you walk by. They will raise
welts and
leave marks that last for days. I had mine planted on a trellis that I
walked
through. It did look lush and beautiful, but I no longer wanted to walk
through!!!!

In service,

Thyri erbewyf
