Greetings AEthelmearc! Our fair Kingdom, as well as the entire
Known World, was presented with a challenge this past August at
Pennsic. The Challenge was to see how many toys our Kingdom could
collect for the "Toys for Tots" program. Malcolm and Tessa accepted
this challenge and Christopher and Morgen are now seeing that it is
completed. I write to you today to ask for your help. We will be
collecting NEW unwrapped toys from now until the 2nd week of
December. We will have drop boxes at upcoming events, and will stop
by regular practices and meetings to collect any and all toy
donations.
The Toys for Tots program began in 1947 and is carried out each year
by the United State Marine Corps. Over the 58 years of the U.S.
Marine Corps Reserve Toys for Tots Program, Marines have distributed
more than 351 million toys for 166 million needy children. All we ask
is that the toy be $10 or more and a NEW, UNWRAPPED toy. To find out
more about the Toys for Tots programs, you can go to their website,
www.toysfortots.org.
The kick-off for this project in Region 2 in AEthelmearc will
be this upcoming weekend at the Castle Schola event. There will be a
toy drop-box at Troll marked "Toys for Tots"and each person dropping
off a New, Unwrapped toy will be entered in a raffle to win a SCA
gift basket for our kick-off event! Please help make our Kingdom
shine! Help make this a project a success and help out needy children
this holiday season by donating a toy! Please spread this message to
anyone you know who is attending the Schola and is not on this list.
If you have any questions about this project, or need to drop off a
donation or have one picked up, please contact myself, Amelia (Amy
McFarland) AmyMcFarland3 at aol.com, (412) 904-2349 or Lynette,
lynela at bellsouth.net (678-472-2024). We will be in touch with as many
local groups as possible(In region 2) in the very near future to try
and coordinate drop-off locations at regular meetings and practices.
And to help spread the word about this project!
