Master and Mistress, Lord & Lady, Sir & Dame, are certainly real
medieval titles... and I can document that.

Now, alone of that list, only Baron & Baroness are titles of
*nobility* (baronage being the lowest rank of English nobility).

Now, how did I get into this smelly stream, and where's my paddle when
I need one...
