Hi folks --

You can see a copy of the cover of the first issue
of the AEstel from back in 1987 when we were still
the Western Region of the East Kingdom.

Also, from the first issue, I'd written the following
about the name AEstel.

Andreas Hak, Western Region Seneschal, has asked me to start up a
newsletter for the Western Region. I have chosen to name it AESTEL, which
is an Anglo-Saxon word meaning book-mark or pointer. It is derived from the
Latin word hastula -- "little spear," or alternately, "little Pikestaff."
Pronounced AS-tell, I believe that AESTEL is a very appropriate name for a
newsletter designed to help point the way for the Western Region as it
grows and develops.

My best -- Bertram
