Here again, I concur with the statement... Why have we *NOT* gone for
something so very helpful? I don't buy the "It isn't period" argument at
all... Porta Johns and "flushies" are not period either, nor are modern
stoves, cleanliness, refridgerators, and a whole host of other things,
and yet we make use of them all the same.

I am all for researching exactly how they did things and re-creating
them whenever possible, and yet I have been seeing the focus shifting to
exclusivity in this regard. If we are going to play the "that wasn't
period" game, then let's eliminate *ALL* things that weren't period...
such as eyeglasses with arms, batteries, light bulbs, sandwiches, cans
and can openers, rubber bands and safety pins, sewing machines (there
goes a LOT of garb!), toilet paper (as well as flush toilets)... shall I
go on?

Strike a balance... use the modern equivalents and "aids" where
necessary but keep it unobtrusive and hidden. Let's look into a small PA
type system that could be placed under the thrones or otherwise hidden.
