I just want to add that the color distortion only happens on
slides scanned with the new scanner Paranomic 250 and with newer
scan software:<br>
<br>
mirax.NONHIERLAYER_0_SECTION.SCANNER_HARDWARE_VERSION: 'Pannoramic
250'<br>
mirax.NONHIERLAYER_0_SECTION.SCANNER_SOFTWARE_VERSION:
'1,18,0,37879'<br>
<br>
Slides scanned with a previous version of the hardware and
software do not have the color distortion in the associated images
when extracted with vips --associated<br>
<br>
mirax.NONHIERLAYER_0_SECTION.SCANNER_HARDWARE_VERSION: 'Pannoramic
SCAN'<br>
mirax.NONHIERLAYER_0_SECTION.SCANNER_SOFTWARE_VERSION: '1,15,0,29'<br>
<br>
The manufacturer's viewer can extract the associated images from
both version without color problem. The above difference is all
that I can see from the properties.<br>

Thanks.<br>

<br>
Thank for the pointer. I explored my MRXS slides and found 3
associated gray scale images embedded (they are called "label",
"macro" and "thumbnail") and could extract them to JPG format with
vips --associated. These images are exactly the same as I could
extract them using the manufacturer's viewer. However, the one
extracted using vips is slightly red and not gray as the one
extracted using Windows based program from the manufacturer. See
attached comparison of one example. I have not explored further
with other options and arguments of vips, just post here to see if
it's a known fact.

Thanks.

Hi Tom,
<br>
<br>
OpenSlide calls these "associated images". For examples of
extracting
<br>
associated images with VIPS, see the OpenSlide wiki:
