Greetings, list!

Thanks for bug report. I understand your concern that .MRXS files
should
be read in Windows too, but please try to understand that my little
Slidewalk app knows nothing about file formats. It only sees
Openslide
interface and loads top level image.

I just downloaded a .MRXS file and it indeed shows empty image when
opened
in Slidewalk in _Windows_. In Linux it works fine, though.

Also, when empty image is shown in Windows, I'm getting this error
in text
console:

Openslide-CRITICAL **: Expected 0xFF byte at end of JPEG data

which is very weird: why would jpeg image behave differently in
Linux and Windows.

Since I'm assigned exclusively to zeiss .zvi file format support, at
this point I can't
take responsibility for deciding to spend time debugging .mrxs
backend.

Knowing that there is someone already working on debugging .mrxs I
think it is up
to Yves to decide who should take care of this bug.

Best regards,

works (out of the box, like you said) with SVS files, but

think rather then an integrated and intuitive zoom function,
a dropdown with the available planes within the selected
file may be more useful (just like Axiovision does with the
layer browser). I have sample program myself that exports
any layer from MRXS to TIFF (for minpulation in other
software such as e.g. Photoshop). You and the list are
welcome to it, but you should be aware that it's written in
C#.

Today I wrote another app, but this time anyone can
actually
run it without compiling. It's a Windows GUI app that
uses
openslide library. It lets you choose a file supported
by
openslide, and then it grabs the top level image from
that
file, trims it to a maximum of 3000x3000 pixels and
displays
resulting image as-is without scaling (there are scroll
bars to
navigate).

My next step is to implement zooming, and once that's
done
that application can be used to quickly test further
additions to
openslide library.

The zip archive is about 7 MB big, so I put it to my
webserver:

No installation is needed, just unpack anywhere and run
the
.exe file.

I've tested it in 64-bit Windows 7, but if you find any
bugs,
please report them to me directly or using this mailing
