permission denied message

when i login through squirrelmail i get the error message in the left pane:

Reason Given: Permission denied

on the home page i get the error message :

| ERROR: Could not complete request.
Query: SELECT "INBOX"
Reason Given: Mailbox does not exist

according to squirrelmail expert the problem is in the cyrus softwaare how can i set permissions so that mailbox are automatically created
