Problems with sasl/imaps (SuSE9)

Hi!

I have no problems to login via clear text passwords but I do have problems 
with CRAM-MD5, DIGEST-MD5 respectively - user not found. I figured out that 
creating the user via saslpasswd2 does solve the problem, I can login know. 
But why? I don't want that insecure /etc/sasldb2.

Second, I activated imaps in cyrus.conf but nevertheless the imaps server is 
not being started up. Any advice?
