We have updated the download for all versions of Alice 2.4.2 so that it contains the complete English Gallery, until we can correct the problems with Software Update mechanism.<div><br></div><div>In answer to Susan’s specific question, for the Mac,</div>
<div><span style="white-space:pre-wrap"> </span></div><div>1) find the Alice application on your system</div><div><br></div><div>2) right-click on the Alice application icon, and from the drop-down context menu select “Show Package Contents”</div>
<div><br></div><div>3) Open the Contents directory / folder</div><div><br></div><div>4) Open the Required directory / folder</div><div><br></div><div>5) Open the “gallery” directory / folder</div><div><span style="white-space:pre-wrap"> </span></div>
<div>6) It is here that you should see “English Gallery.zip” file. (It should be around 329 MB in size)</div><div><br></div><div>7) If it is there and the correct size, double-click on this .zip file and it should correctly uncompress.</div>

Sue,<div>A problem in the download system, is that when the download progress bar shows the completion of the progress bar, one thinks that the process is over. However, the download only copies the EnglishGallery .zip file to the gallery directory of the Required directory in the Alice package (take a look and you will probably see it.) Many have and will believe that when the download progress bar is complete, the Gallery is ready. It is not. <br>
<br>What we are not yet showing in this Gallery download process is that Alice will then unzip this downloaded file. The downloaded file has to unzip. When the uncompression is completed, Alice will then show a “Restart Alice” dialog box.<br>
<br>After restarting Alice, the English Gallery will then be displayed in the Scene editor.<br><br>Follow (repeat) these steps:</div><div><br></div><div>1) Go to Help emu - > Software Updates </div><div><br></div><div>
2) Select download English Gallery </div><div><br></div><div>3) Let the entire process complete… This will take some time - the complete gallery is actually very large (almost 400+ MB</div><div><br></div><div>4) The process is complete when you see the "Restart Alice" dialog box. <br>

<br>No ballerinas<br><br>We are using "An Introduction to Programming Using Alice 2.2 Second Edition" by Charles W. Herbert at GCSU, which uses ballerinas as a project:<span> </span><br><br>You are going to build a world with two objects, a blueBallerina and a pinkBallerina. Click the green ADD OBJECTS button and add a blueBallerina and a pinkBallerina to the world from the People folder in the Local Gallery<br>
<br><br>I tried "download English gallery" from help=>software update and just got the "core gallery".<br>I tried "update English gallery" and only saw a people folder, which only contained "class iceskater1" and "create 3D text. I was able to find the core gallery by clicking on Home.<br>
