alice-teacher sonoma HELP !

I upgraded to an M1 Mac a few weeks ago, and I haven’t seen any new problems with Alice 3. I am running 3.8.

Many students in my class, across all platforms, have seen a freeze in Alice 3.8 that wasn’t present in older versions. It seems associated with switching to the Move tool. It has been hard to reproduce, so I haven’t reported it yet. It freezes for several seconds, up to a minute or more, and then recovers and starts working again. It feels like a memory leak, but I don’t know what it is. I don’t think it’s the same thing Heidi is describing, because it started in version 3.8.

 Thanks so much for responding so fast. You guys are awesome. We will try the new version first. Just wondering....has anyone else written in about this issue? I know that rosetta was a problem in previous Mac OS versions. Is this still the case?

Sorry to hear you’re running into Alice issues.

Is there a reason you’re on Alice 3.6 instead of the latest version of Alice 3.8? I’m not sure it solves the problems but it would be the first thing to try?

We were having issues running Alice 2 so we moved to Alice 3.6. I have a M1 mac book with the Sonoma 14.3 and cannot get alice to run.It keeps freezing and I have to force quit.  It is also giving me a rendering error due to performance issues when I select run. If I can't find a solution the Alice program will be pulled. My new tech dept has limited exposure to working with Macs so it's been a struggle. Please help.....
