Hello,

Has anyone had any challenges with running Alice 2.5 on a Mac with an M1
processor?  Were you able to get it running? So far I am not seeing a clear
solution. Please advise.

Masudi,

We have collected community reports and verified a few different problems.

1) On Mac OS 13 Ventura- Alice 2.5 doesn?t go past the launch screen. This is a known issue and we don?t currently have a fix.

If possible, we would suggest holding off on the Mac OS Ventura update.I

2?on Mac OS 13,  If you?re installing Alice 3, you will need to disable dark mode to install successfully. 

3) On M1 machines, Alice 2.5 is not identified as an Intel app and so may not prompt a Rosetta 2 install. To fix this, you can install Alice 3 which will correctly prompt a Rosetta 2 install. 

4) If you?re using the Alice Player on Quest, we have an update to fix the freeze on Unity screen:

I teach kids from Ukraine who lives in Ukraine and is refugees here in
Europe. One of them has a problem running Alice 2 on windows on a laptop.
Is there an issue because of NLS settings? As we can see he has Cyrillic
language locations.  Runtime never stopped at "Loading".

I am very much looking forward to your answers.

Matjaz,

Do any of the other kids? laptops have the same language set up? 

Try running Alice 2 from a different location, instead of programs, like desktop. 

I?ll do a test on one of our windows machines.

Subject: alice-teacher Bug in Alice 3 setAdultPersonResource and joints

After calling setAdultPersonResource on a Sims character in Alice 3.7, I can no longer move the joints in code. Furthermore, if I made any adjustments to the joints in scene setup, they are wiped out after a call to setAdultPersonResource.

Some years back (February 2021) I reported a bug to this list related to the joints in the Sims characters getting messed up after calling setAdultPersonResouce. This was apparent with the vehicle property and speech bubbles getting messed up. That bug was fixed, but it may be related to the new bug.

I am using setAdultPersonResource because I want my students to create their own avatar and use it in all their homework assignments. Some years back, we figured out on this list that setAdultPersonResource was the best way to do that. If anyone knows a better way now, I am open to suggestions.
