William,
I checked with the director of the Alice Project, Eric Brown.

They are going to stop selling The Rift S because the newest Quest can do everything it can do and more. If you wanted to connect your desktop (to run the Alice Player, for example) to the Quest there is a link cord that can be purchased. Eric is not sure if they will start including this link cord with the purchase once the Rift is officially discontinued. The Alice Player would run over the Link as would any other desktop-only VR apps for the Oculus ecosystem. We are assuming that since they are planning on continuing to sell the Rift till next year they would also have to support it further into the future than that.

Eric has not purchased the Link for his Quest but is planning on doing so to verify there is no issue. We also hope to support loading content without the link cord in the future.

Please let us know if you have any other questions.

All the best,
Don Slater
