alice-teacher Error "failed to initialize art assets"

Last week Duke installed a version of Alice 3 on our Virtual Machine VM for
students if they are having trouble with their laptop, so they can login an
use the VM.

Everything seems to work except when you drag in a person from the Sims,
the people builder. We get the error "failed to initialize art assets".

Dragging in non-Sims bipeds work fine or other objects. 

Anyone know what this error is?

Do they need to redo the install?
